Max the Star of Wonderland (The Movie)

Max plays my Chihuahua, Thor in the movie Wonderland. Brave to the very end, he was a sweet little man who loved unconditionally and gave me courage on my darkest days. Thor was a true hero.

Thor was sent to give you the strength, courage, and love you so desparately needed. May your life always be filled with supportive small dogs.

You know me Dawn, an animal lover. I had the honor to meet this little guy, (the real Thor), who loved so unconditionally. Even when I visited you and John back then, he was pleased to be my bed warmer and welcomed me in your home. Doesnt matter what we looked like, Thor always loved us. Now I have my own bed warmers, and can’t imagine them not being in my life. They’re also my family. Thor you will never be forgotten.

There is no love like that of an animal. Unconditional, loyal, constant and always hopeful. I am really glad that you had someone to watch over and guide you during this horrific phase of your life. I am sure that Thor has lived on in your memory forever. I am very interested to know – did Thor like John? Or did he try to stay away from him and only clinged to you?

Hi,
I’m so glad someone else has responded to this important aspect of my story. Thor was one of the biggest parts of my life with John. I write about him at all times so I can’t reveal much, but there are major events where he played an important role. His little story will warm your heart and break your heart. He was an angel in my life (and still is.) I can say this…Thor loved John in the beginning. You know, even my agent had to call me up and try to get me to tell her what happens to Thor before finishing the book. She said she couldn’t stand it. But in the end, she agreed that it was better to read to the entire story, to understand his importance.
In your decription above, I love how you mention “always hopeful”. That was Thor…those eyes…that wrinkled brow. Pure love.
Thanks for your share.

Sorry for sounding a little iweird, but the BBC special you are talking about, what does BBC stand for and on what channel is it going to air on? I live in South Texas and would love to see this documentary.

Hi,
Not weird at all. It stands for British Broadcasting Company, I think, (at least I know the British part is right). Everyone that has cable or satelite should get the channel but you would have to check your local listing directory — I’m pretty sure each town puts it on a different channel.
Thanks for asking.

I know the love and strength you find in Thor. Many times when I’m feeling down, and hopeless about life and think death a better alternative to what I’m going through now, I look down at my little 10 lb. Cairn Terrier named Romie and find a little bit of strength in her as well.

Dawn,
I know poor little Thor witnessed your abuse first hand he probably didn’t like John in the end. I have watched the other disc “The Life and Times of John C Holmes” and I know at least Thor was with you when you finally got away. I was really afraid that John had killed him and I am glad that didn’t happen.
Thank-You,
Printess

Hi Dawn~~
I love animals, and I found this picture on your site. I am glad you had Thor with you during the ’small hours’ of life. The comfort given from animals and their grasp of human emotion is underestimated. I am 32 years old and have a cat, “Queenie”, that is 18!!!! She’s been with me at least half of my life; I’ve known her longer than most people!! ~april e.

I love chihuahuas too, I have a teacup and full size their names are star and selena. Star was with me through a horrible relationship of verbal abuse and when my abuser kicked me out of the house the motel where I stayed at let me have star with me every day i look into his little brown eyes and wonder where I would be without him. Pets are wonderful therapy for bad to horrible times especially chihuahuas they are so smart and always seem to know whats going on. If you can print a pic of little thor I would love to see him

Though he had a very small part in the movie, I am certain that Thor was a very important part of your life! I remember how many times I turned to my little Maltese Barkley for love and support at the end of my marriage. My ex husband kept Barkley from me after our divorce, and for a year and a half, all I longed for was his warm furry little face by my side. One day out of the blue, he called me and told me to either “come get him or he’s going to the pound”. I feel I rescued him from a fate worse than death, for he was totally neglected and had been mistreated, often left for hours on end tied to a coffee table, and sitting in a pile of his own waste. If dogs can become depressed, I am sure my little Barkley was terribly depressed before he came to live with me. He has never fully recovered, but I do my best to keep him happy and healthy. Like all little old men, he’s going bald now, and arthritis has affected the mobility of his hind legs. But he still looks at me through eyes of love – and that love is returned to him tenfold. he is my true companion for life!

Hi Dawn,
I have been absolutely fascinated with the Wonderland Murders and underground Hollywood for many years. I’m looking forward to the release of your book next month and can’t wait to get a copy. I wish you peace and serenity.
Take care of yourself,
Julie Nielsen
