Premiere and Gallery Pics!

Premiere of Wonderland

For anyone who might want a gander, I have been graciously given these two pics from the VKN people. Above is a group shot of the Wonderland Premiere. What an impressive group of actors! Standing next to Josh Lucas just before the shot, he looked down at me and asked, “Are you scared?” His meaning, I thought, was whether I was nervous about seeing the final version of the film. “Yes”, I told him. Then afterwards I wondered if he might have meant if I was scared of all the people — because the crowds were certainly overwhelming!

I don’t know who took the picture below, but it is with Val Kilmer and Ali Alborzi (pictured) at Val’s Wonderland Art Show in Santa Monica. It was amazing to see the turn out and the appreciation for the art, (I will be posting more information on the artwork very soon). The short-haired gentleman is none other than David Mamet — writer, director of Spartan, a film in which Val was in the process of shooting the lead role. This was definately a more relaxed evening and tons of fun. Amazing things can happen in life, blessings abound. Who would have ever thought after such a terrible past, that I would be standing in the company of such talented, well esteemed people as an equal and a friend.

Enjoy and I’ll try to keep more pictures coming!

Those are great pictures. Thank you for posting them Dawn. Are you and Sharon still in contact with Kate, Lisa, and Val or do all three of them ignore you and Sharon after everything with the movie came out? Thank you.

  2. Dawn Schiller Says:

    Hi Amber,

On the contrary. Still good friends. Especially during the holidays.

    Blessings,

    Dawn

    Dawn,
I have a question I’m hoping you can answer. I have read different things about what year John and Sharon actually divorced. Some say it was in 1982, his second wife said it was in 1984 according to an interview she did, and yet others say it was 1985. Perhaps the confusion is it was FILED in 1982 and actually finalized later??? Just curious.
As you can see, this is only one issue where things about John are in conflict depending on the source you read. Please do not be upset when people question things you may or may not have said. With John telling so many stories about himself, there are bound to be contradictions. I think most people understand that. If they don’t it’s on them. Your story about you and John is YOUR story. Other people may have theirs, but no one can say what happened between you and John but you.
Any type of publicity attracts negativity. Don’t let it get you down.
Whatever happened to the interview you were to do on VKN.com? I checked and it is not up yet.
I know you are a paralegal and I am as well. That is why I am wondering if there have been any problems with your book or photographs due to estate issues? I certainly hope not. By the way, I admire you for never talking down anyone else who was involved in John’s life the way some have. It is nice to see that.
Hope you have a wonderful holiday and, from what I understand, you have a birthday on Christmas Eve? I think I heard that somewhere. If so, Merry Chistmas AND Happy Birthday!
    Charlotte

Hi Dawn, I am glad for you that you have turned an awful past into an asset to help others. Sometimes we get down to the bottom so badly that it is all we have to give. I too have quite a story. My story is one of those that was never validated, never famous, never even resolved. A quiet tragedy, as are most. I have often thought about writing a book, but have no idea where to begin. I would very much like to meet you some day. I was once one of those women in a homeless shelter in the northwest and currently live near Seattle.

    Dawn,

First of all allow me to say Merry Christmas and hope that you and yourr family have a good holidayh season.

I also have a question regarding the movie….Why is it the movie didn’t get a very wide release? I mean there were stories in the magazines before it even came out ,there was a premier at the Toronto film festival, a premier of it in Hollywood, then harldly no release of the film on opening day. Why was this?
I myself ended up driving about 80 miles to find a theatre that it was showing in.
I just can’t understand why this was as good as the movie was.

Hi Dawn, at the end of the movie it states that you are realeasing a book about the events of that time. What is it called and has it been realeased?

Hello Dawn, I was/am curious about a lot of things relating to your life, your book, I live in Quebec Cananda, where I live, there are not lots of english books, I suppose I will look on Line, but I would love to have a signed book by you, is that possible, ???I can pay for the book and shipping too.I wanted to know if you ever visited the girl who was the only survivor in the hospital, or whatever became of her? I am a friend of Robert Lund, his wife wrote THE Bad Lieutenant, starred in it as well, she was a heroine addict, then became a coke addict, and at the age of 37 died of a lung infection, her then lover refused to take her to the hospital, she was also in The Self Destruction of Giaas well as many others, MS45, & others. I didn’t quite get it in the movie, were you doing H as welll as coke, or did you have a preference? I am only asking because I did a lot of drugs in my younger days, which broke me into a hundred different pieces, took a long time time to kick .Still with 4 children, a husband, a beautiful home, I still always feel the urge , but never do anythingabout it, it seems to come and go. I’m sorry, Robert’s wife was Zoe Lund. I would like it very much , if you could write to me, thank you, Christi
