I know! I was also very, very surprised! I really don't know, except Lions Gate was using a marketing technique that they use for many of their independent movies. They promote it and then present it with a test audience first. The critics were very harsh too. I spoke to James Cox, the director, tonight and he reminded me that making a movie about Wonderland was very edgy and a big risk! I mean there were stories in the magazines before it even came out ,there was a premier at the Toronto film festival, a premier of it in Hollywood, then harldly no release of the film on opening day. Why was this? I myself ended up driving about 80 miles to find a theatre that it was showing in. I just can’t understand why this was as good as the movie was.
