Thanks Tony, for sharing about your home in Tigard. I do know of it and it is still a beautiful place. And Lynn and Serena, I really appreciate your sharing your experiences. I wish I had the time to answer everyone personally, but it seems to slip by. I do try to keep everyone posted, even though it may not seem like it.

Be well,

I wanted to comment on how wonderful it is that you've created this great life for yourself. I was in an abusive relationship at age 16 and had also dropped out of school and had also gotten involved in other "things." I am now in a loving and healthy relationship and graduating with my bachelor's in Computer Science. I relate well to your experience although I must admit mine doesn't nearly compare to yours. Thank you for being such a great role model and I hope that your family will be greatly blessed!

Dear Dawn,
Your description of quiet Sunday's in the Spring reminded me of quiet Sundays at my grandparents' "farm" in Tigard, OR (near Portland) when I was a young boy. The area was still quite rural in those days, and I can still hear the church bells ringing in the distance. My grandparents both immigrated to America from Greece, were truly wonderful people, and my brother and I loved spending a good part of each summer with them. Sadly, both my brother and father passed away from cancer, so I was pleased to read of your friend's success story. Such a horrible disease.
I also enjoyed reading about your own success story; truly a remarkable journey which speaks eloquently to the strength of your character and the resilience of the human spirit.
I just saw Wonderland on HBO, which led me to your blog site. I had a passing awareness of the crime and remember when Holmes was acquitted, but I was struck by the intensity of the film and how well the drug culture of LA in those days was depicted; gritty, sad, violent, frightening. Remarkable film making and performances all around. For certain age groups it would be worth showing in drug awareness/prevention programs. Glad to see that your first book was published and that you are working on your second. I look forward to reading both. I used to teach entertainment law and know of the type of issues you and your attorneys had to deal with. I also served as executive director of AFTRA & SAG for several years in Seattle, so would be interested in hearing of your experiences as a consultant and associate producer on the film.
Thanks again for reminding me of those wonderful Sundays with my grandparents so many, many summers ago; warm memories that still touch my soul. Best wishes to you and your family.

That sounds heavenly Dawn, like the perfect place to be on a Sunday...and how sweet is someone who sees a weed as 'wish fairy blossoms'...that's precious!!

This is so you. The essence of the garden is in your very soul. I wish I were there not to help in the garden, but to sit nearby, sip my coffee, and enjoy watching as you transform the weedy patch into something beautiful.
